MANILA, Philippines - Nine-member Girls' Generation dominated Korea's Gaon charts for January, copping No. 1 in album sales, singles, streaming and downloads.
Gaon, similar to the Billboard chart, released the latest rankings for January which showed the girls' "I Got A Boy" album topping the charts.
In album sales, "I Got A Boy" sold 265,322 copies in January to top the chart, followed by JYJ Jaejoong's "I" with 140,795 copies, CN Blue's "Re:BLUE" with 95,949, Infinite H's "Fly High" with 85,075, Boyfriend's "I yah" with 19,503, Big Bang's "2012 Big Bang Live Concert CD" with 18,871, "Les Miserables" official soundtrack with 14,370, MYNAME's "The 2nd Single" with 9,745, G-Dragon's "One of a Kind" with 8,035 and EXO-K's "MAMA The 1st Mini Album" with 7,469.
In the monthly digital singles chart, "I Got A Boy" is also No. 1 with 97.70 million accumulated points, followed by Jung Hyung Don's "Gangbuk Dandy," Baek Ji Young's "Hate," Bae Chigi's "Shower of Tears," CN Blue's "I'm Sorry," Verbal Jint feat. Kang Min Hee's "Good Start," Infinite H feat. Bumkey's "Special Girl," Sunny Hill's "Goodbye to Romance," Girls' Generation's "Dancing Queen" and Lee Seung Gi's "Return."
"I Got A Boy" topped Billboard's World Albums and K-pop Hot 100 charts when it was released last month. It also debuted at No. 2 on the Heatseekers Albums and No. 23 on Independent Albums.
In online downloads, "I Got A Boy" also scored the No. 1 spot with 910,253 downloads for January, followed by "Gangbuk Dandy," "Shower of Tears," "Hate," "I'm Sorry," "Good Start," Leessang feat. Eugene's "Tears," "Special Girl," Yoo Jae Suk's "Grasshopper World" and Kim Bo Kyung's "Don't Think You're Alone."
It's also the same on the streaming chart. "I Got A Boy" is No. 1 followed by "Gangbuk Dandy," "Hate," "Return," Yoseob's "Caffeine," "Goodbye to Romance," "Shower of Tears," "Dancing Queen," Geeks feat. Soyou's "Officially Missing You" and "Good Start."
On Japan's Oricon chart, TVXQ's "Catch Me-If You Wanna" sold 150,472 copies to place fourth on the monthly singles chart for January. Super Junior-KRY's "Promise You" sold 72,855 to place seventh on the chart.
"Catch Me-If You Wanna" was certified gold for the month of January by the Recording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) for selling at least 100,000 copies.
