Slime Green Plants: Celebrity Profile: Yoo Jae Suk

Yoo Jae Suk, or Yu Jae Suk, is a popular South Korean comedian and television host who has hosted and appeared in several popular variety programs such as Family Outing, Infinite Challenge and currently ongoing Running Man. (You can read more of Family Outing and Running Man series on my blog.)

Born on August 14 1972 in Seoul, Yoo Jae Suk only shot to fame after spending 9 years as a relatively unknown comedian in Korean on the program, Live and Enjoy Together. As the popularity of the variety program grew, Yoo's affectionate personality shone through, leading to several invitations to becoming the host of other variety programs over the years.

His list of accolades in the entertainment industry can be said to be unrivaled. What's more humbling is his commendable work ethic and dedication to a tight schedule that has long plagued his career.

Yoo admitted recently in an interview that he was sad that he was unable to bring his young son to an amusement park because he was worried for his family's safety given his immense popularity in Korea.

After the interview, netizens started buzzing in forums about starting a new movement of allowing Yoo Jae Suk and other celebrities to carry on with their private lives in public spaces without stopping them for photos or disturbing them in any manner.

However, this looked to be short-lived in a celebrity-crazy country where having good looks often dominate the agendas of many, causing many to resort to plastic surgery to seemingly fix 'facial flaws'.

Several celebrities and top music groups, including popular girl group Girls Generation, have undergone plastic surgery to artificially beautify themselves. It seems to be a normal, and worrying, practice in Korean.
